For information on upcoming events, check out our new <a href=\"https:\/\/alienroad.com\/google-bilgi-bankasi\/about-search-central-live\/\">Search Central Unconference page<\/a>.<\/aside>\n<p class=\"gargardate\">Monday, May 23, 2022<\/p>\n<p>\nThe Search Central Virtual Unconference 2022 took place on April 27 this year. This is the third event of this kind.\n<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/alienroad.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/kb-gorsel\/g-99a94a368f65.png\" loading=\"lazy\" alt=\"search central virtual unconference 2022 event logo\" style=\"max-width: 500px; margin: auto; display: block; width:100%\"><\/p>\n<p>\n  With over 450 registrants, it\u2019s clear that there is interest in a different format for virtual events.<br \/>\n  There was representation from 44 countries.\n<\/p>\n<p>This was the first time we opened the event to facilitators from the community.<br \/>\n  Since there was so much demand for the proposed sessions, we decided to host a total of 25 breakout sessions for the 127 total attendees.<br \/>\n  We got a lot of positive feedback about the size of the discussion groups.<br \/>\n  Another aspect that got mentioned in the feedback was that the decision to give space to discussions by<br \/>\n  not recording the sessions and limiting the number of attendees helped to make sure everyone is heard and included.\n<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"some-learnings-from-the-sessions\" tabindex=\"-1\">Some learnings from the sessions<\/h3>\n<p>\nOur facilitators took notes during their sessions and here are the conclusions:\n<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n    <b>Video SEO<\/b> is a newer topic for content and marketing teams and was a well-received session.<br \/>\n    For those looking to make the most out of their video content, the <a href=\"https:\/\/alienroad.com\/google-bilgi-bankasi\/video-search\/\">existing video best practices documentation<\/a><br \/>\n    has more insights. There also is <a href=\"https:\/\/alienroad.com\/google-bilgi-bankasi\/video-videoobject-clip-broadcastevent-structured-data\/\">documentation on schema markup for getting videos on Google<\/a>.\n   <\/li>\n<li>\n    In the ecommerce session, the discussion noted that dealing with <b>product variations<\/b> is a challenge.<br \/>\n    Also dealing with <b>faceted navigation<\/b> can be a challenge as the amount of pages to index and the right combinations of facets vary on a case-by-case basis.\n  <\/li>\n<li>The <b>International SEO<\/b> session concluded that internationalization and localization are hard and should not be left for later stages of development.<\/li>\n<li>\n    The <b>organic and paid growth collaborations<\/b> sessions found that often both organic and paid marketers work towards the same goal,<br \/>\n    so teams should look at the bigger picture to build better content and relationships together.\n  <\/li>\n<li>Real <b>product reviews<\/b> from blogs and community sites seem to be a great solution to drive conversions and get new customers at the start of the funnel.<\/li>\n<li>The <b>community around SEO and digital marketing<\/b> is alive and well: the community seems to be becoming more supportive of one another and sharing more helpful content with each other.<\/li>\n<li><b>Images<\/b> still often provide a great way to quickly improve website speed by serving modern formats and the appropriate quality to different devices.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 id=\"feedback-from-our-participants\" tabindex=\"-1\">Feedback from our participants<\/h3>\n<p>\n  Our post-event survey showed that participants were pleased with the event overall rating it 4.65 out of 5.<br \/>\n  This is a motivation to look into repeating this kind of event in the future.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Participants also left us feedback like the following one, which shows that these events definitely<br \/>\n  provide value to the participants and the community in making voices heard that we usually don&#8217;t get to hear:\n<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\n&#8220;Even though I was one of the more inexperienced participants, I really felt like a part of the discussions,<br \/>\n  got to ask questions and truly learnt a lot in a short time. More than I have ever learnt at a conference before.&#8221;\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h3 id=\"so,-whats-next\" tabindex=\"-1\">So, what&#8217;s next?<\/h3>\n<p>\n  There will be more Search Central Unconferences in the future.<br \/>\n  We had our first <a href=\"https:\/\/alienroad.com\/google-bilgi-bankasi\/event-recap-search-central-virtual-unconference-japan-2022\/\">non-English Virtual Unconference in Japan<\/a> in April and we hope to bring more events like this to Japan and to other languages both online or offline in the future.
