Two restrictions:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>A <code>vcard<\/code> root element must not carry another hCard class.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Do not nest properties.<\/strong> A <code>tel<\/code> inside an <code>adr<\/code> may be processed incorrectly. The exception is nesting the standard explicitly allows: <code>country-name<\/code>, <code>region<\/code>, <code>locality<\/code>, <code>street-address<\/code>, <code>extended-address<\/code> and <code>postal-code<\/code> inside <code>adr<\/code>; <code>latitude<\/code> and <code>longitude<\/code> inside <code>geo<\/code>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The nesting rule is easy to break by accident, because the visual layout of a contact block often puts the phone number inside the address paragraph.<\/p>\n<h2>How values are extracted<\/h2>\n<p>Normally the value is the visible text inside the element. Two exceptions carry the whole practical technique:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><code>&lt;abbr&gt;<\/code> with <code>title<\/code><\/strong> \u2014 the value is the attribute, not the text. <code>&lt;abbr class=\"tel\" title=\"+7 (890) 123-45-67\"&gt;123-45-67&lt;\/abbr&gt;<\/code> shows a local number and publishes the full one.<\/li>\n<li><strong><code>&lt;a&gt;<\/code> with <code>href<\/code><\/strong> for URL-valued properties \u2014 <code>url<\/code>, <code>email<\/code>, <code>logo<\/code>, <code>photo<\/code> \u2014 where the value is the link target.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>The alternative to markup entirely<\/h2>\n<p>Yandex states that submitting contact information through <strong>Site geography \u2192 Addresses and organisations<\/strong> in the console is <em>equivalent to marking up the pages<\/em>: the data goes to Yandex Business and appears across Yandex services either way. Two doors, one database.<\/p>\n<h2>Choosing between them<\/h2>\n<p>Markup keeps the site as the single source of truth and updates automatically when the page changes. The form gives faster updates and visible moderation status.
