Knowing which is which matters, because one is an editorial problem and the other is a violation.<\/p>\n<h2>Poor: valid once, worthless now<\/h2>\n<p>Baidu&#8217;s examples are all about <strong>expiry<\/strong>: delisted products, ended group purchases, expired job and transaction pages, deleted videos, downloads that no longer work. None of these were ever deceptive \u2014 they simply stopped being true.<\/p>\n<p>The warning attached is the important part: <strong>where such pages make up too large a share of a site, the rating of the whole site is affected<\/strong>. Baidu names the site types that must manage this \u2014 UGC platforms, e-commerce, directories \u2014 which is to say every site whose inventory turns over.<\/p>\n<h2>No quality: cheap, scraped, or deceptive<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Content empty or too short to support what the page claims to be about.<\/li>\n<li>Q&amp;A pages with a question and no answer, or an answer that resolves nothing.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Internal search result pages carrying no relevant information<\/strong> \u2014 a whole category of automatically generated pages that most sites let the crawler reach.<\/li>\n<li>Content scraped from elsewhere and published without even minimal editing.<\/li>\n<li>Malware, cheating, or deception.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Baidu&#8217;s definition of cheating<\/h2>\n<p>&#8220;A page that does not aim to satisfy a user need, but profits by deceiving users and the search engine through improper means.&#8221; Intent is part of the definition, and Baidu notes such pages have <strong>negative value<\/strong> \u2014 worse than nothing \u2014 which is why the response is removal rather than demotion.<\/p>\n<h2>What to do about each<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Expired pages:<\/strong> decide a policy per content type. Delisted product \u2014 redirect to the category or keep the page with clear status and alternatives. Closed listing \u2014 remove from the index. Do not leave thousands of them indexable.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Thin generated pages:<\/strong> block internal search results and empty filter combinations from crawling.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Unanswered Q&amp;A:<\/strong> either get answers or keep them out of the index.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>The proportion point<\/h2>\n<p>This framework judges sites as well as pages.
