You might have already noticed some minor changes, but in general, our goal was to<br \/>\n    make the migration as invisible as possible. This change will help Google to improve the<br \/>\n    performance of the API as demand grows.\n  <\/p>\n<p>\n    Note that <strong>if you&#8217;re not querying the API yourself you don&#8217;t need to take action<\/strong>.<br \/>\n    If you are querying the API for your own data or if you maintain a tool which uses that data<br \/>\n    (for example, a WordPress plugin), read on. Below is a summary of the changes:\n  <\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>\n      <b>Changes on Google Cloud Platform dashboard<\/b>: you&#8217;ll see is a drop in the old<br \/>\n      API usage report and an increase in the new one.\n    <\/li>\n<li>\n      <b> API key restriction changes<\/b>: if you have previously set API key<br \/>\n      restrictions, you might need to change them.\n    <\/li>\n<li>\n      <b> Discovery document changes<\/b>: if you&#8217;re querying the API using a third-party<br \/>\n      API library or querying the<br \/>\n      <a href=\"https:\/\/www.googleapis.com\/discovery\/v1\/apis\/webmasters\/v3\/rest\" class=\"external-link\">Webmasters Discovery Document<\/a><br \/>\n      directly, you will need to update it by the end of the year.\n    <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>\n    Please note that other than these changes, the <strong>API is backward compatible<\/strong> and<br \/>\n    there are currently no changes in scope or functionality.\n  <\/p>\n<h2 id=\"google-cloud-platform-gcp-changes\" tabindex=\"-1\">\n    Google Cloud Platform (GCP) changes<br \/>\n  <\/h2>\n<p>\n    In the<br \/>\n    <a href=\"https:\/\/cloud.google.com\/monitoring\/charts\/dashboards\" class=\"external-link\">Google Cloud Console dashboards<\/a>,<br \/>\n    you will notice a traffic drop for the legacy API and an increase in calls to the new one. This<br \/>\n    is the same API, just under the new name.\n  <\/p>\n<p>\n    <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/alienroad.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/kb-gorsel\/g-7a38824e0b4f.jpg\" loading=\"lazy\"\n         alt=\"Search Console API changes in Google Cloud Console\" \/>\n  <\/p>\n<p>\n    You can monitor your API usage on the<br \/>\n    <a href=\"https:\/\/console.cloud.google.com\/apis\/api\/searchconsole.googleapis.com\/overview\" class=\"external-link\">new Google Search Console API page<\/a>.\n  <\/p>\n<h2 id=\"api-key-restriction-changes\" tabindex=\"-1\">\n    API key restriction changes<br \/>\n  <\/h2>\n<p>\n    As mentioned in the introduction, these instructions are important only if you query the data<br \/>\n    yourself or provide a tool that does that for your users.\n  <\/p>\n<p>\n    To check if you have an API restriction active on your API key, follow<br \/>\n    <a href=\"https:\/\/cloud.google.com\/docs\/authentication\/api-keys#adding_api_restrictions\" class=\"external-link\">these steps<\/a><br \/>\n    in the <a href=\"https:\/\/console.cloud.google.com\/apis\/credentials\" class=\"external-link\">credentials page<\/a><br \/>\n    and make sure the Search Console API is not restricted. If you have added an API restriction for<br \/>\n    your API keys <strong>you will need to take action by August 31<\/strong>.\n  <\/p>\n<p>\n    In order to allow your API calls to be migrated automatically to the new API infrastructure, you<br \/>\n    need to make sure the Google Search Console API is not restricted.\n  <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n      If your API restrictions are set to &#8220;Don&#8217;t restrict key&#8221; you&#8217;re all set.\n    <\/li>\n<li>\n      If your API restrictions are set to &#8220;Restrict key&#8221;, <strong> the Search Console API should be<br \/>\n      checked as shown in the image below<\/strong>.\n    <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\n    <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/alienroad.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/kb-gorsel\/g-fee4e18d215b.png\" loading=\"lazy\"\n         alt=\"Google Search Console API restrictions setting\" \/>\n  <\/p>\n<h2 id=\"discovery-document-changes\" tabindex=\"-1\">\n    Discovery document changes<br \/>\n  <\/h2>\n<p>\n    If you&#8217;re querying the Search Console API using an<br \/>\n    <a href=\"https:\/\/developers.google.com\/api-client-library\" class=\"external-link\">external API library<\/a>, or<br \/>\n    querying the<br \/>\n    <a href=\"https:\/\/www.googleapis.com\/discovery\/v1\/apis\/webmasters\/v3\/rest\" class=\"external-link\">Webmasters API discovery document<\/a><br \/>\n    directly <strong>you will need to take action<\/strong> as we&#8217;ll drop the support in the<br \/>\n    Webmasters discovery document.
