In the example shown here, you can see<br \/>\n  <a href=\"https:\/\/support.google.com\/webmasters\/answer\/7576553#choosingmetrics\" class=\"external-link\">click-through rate<\/a><br \/>\n  (CTR), average position, and clicks for the query and device dimensions in one view.\n<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/alienroad.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/kb-gorsel\/g-9fd42a635ec8.png\" loading=\"lazy\" alt=\"Elements in the Search Console bubble chart\"><\/p>\n<p>\n  This section goes into detail on some of the chart elements to clarify what the chart shows, and what it doesn&#8217;t.\n<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"data-source\" tabindex=\"-1\">Data source<\/h3>\n<p>\n  The bubble chart shown in this page uses the Site Impression table available through the<br \/>\n  <a href=\"https:\/\/support.google.com\/datastudio\/answer\/7314895\" class=\"external-link\">Search Console data source<\/a>,<br \/>\n  which includes <a href=\"https:\/\/support.google.com\/webmasters\/answer\/7576553\" class=\"external-link\">Search performance data<\/a><br \/>\n  aggregated by site and queries.\n<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"filters-and-data-controls\" tabindex=\"-1\">Filters and data controls<\/h3>\n<p>\n  There are five customization options in the chart to help you control your data effectively:\n<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><b><a href=\"https:\/\/support.google.com\/datastudio\/answer\/7415591\" class=\"external-link\">Data control<\/a><\/b>:<br \/>\n    Choose the Search Console property you&#8217;d like to analyze.<\/li>\n<li><b>Date range<\/b>: Choose the date range you&#8217;d like to see in the report; by default you&#8217;ll see<br \/>\n    the last 28 days.<\/li>\n<li><b>Query<\/b>: Include or exclude queries to focus on. You can <a href=\"https:\/\/alienroad.com\/google-bilgi-bankasi\/search-console-regex-filters-update-and-quick-tips\/\">filter your data<\/a><br \/>\n    similar to how you do it in Search Console.<\/li>\n<li><b>Country<\/b>: Include or exclude countries.<\/li>\n<li><b>Device<\/b>: Include or exclude device categories.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3 id=\"axes\" tabindex=\"-1\">Axes<\/h3>\n<p>\n  The axes in the chart are average position (y-axis) and site CTR (x-axis). There are three<br \/>\n  significant transformations in the axes:\n<\/p>\n<ol start=\"6\">\n<li><b>Reverse y-axis direction<\/b>: Since the y-axis shows average position,<br \/>\n  inverting it means that 1 is at the top.<br \/>\n    For most charts, the best position is in the top right corner, so it is more intuitive to invert<br \/>\n    the y-axis when using it to display average position.<\/li>\n<li><b>Log scale<\/b>: Using a <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Logarithmic_scale\" class=\"external-link\">logarithmic scale<\/a><br \/>\n    for both axes lets you to have a better understanding of queries that are in the extremities of<br \/>\n    the chart (very low CTR, average position, or both).<\/li>\n<li><b><a href=\"https:\/\/support.google.com\/datastudio\/answer\/9921462\" class=\"external-link\">Reference lines<\/a><\/b>:<br \/>\n    The reference line is very helpful to highlight values that are above or below a certain threshold.<br \/>\n    Looking at the average, median, or a certain percentile can call attention to deviations from the<br \/>\n    pattern.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3 id=\"bubbles\" tabindex=\"-1\">Bubbles<\/h3>\n<p>\n  Each bubble in the chart represents a single query, with the following<br \/>\n  <a href=\"https:\/\/support.google.com\/datastudio\/answer\/7207785#style-properties\" class=\"external-link\">style properties<\/a>:\n<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Size<\/b>: Using the number of clicks as the bubble size helps you see in a glance which<br \/>\n  queries are driving the bulk of the traffic&mdash;the larger the bubble the more traffic the query<br \/>\n  generates.<\/li>\n<li><b>Color<\/b>: Using the device category as the bubble color helps you understand the differences<br \/>\n    between mobile and desktop Search performance. You can use any dimension as the color, but as the<br \/>\n    number of values increases, the harder it is to recognize patterns.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 id=\"analyzing-the-data\" tabindex=\"-1\">Analyzing the data<\/h2>\n<p>\n  The goal of this visualization is to help surface query optimization opportunities. The chart<br \/>\n  shows query performance, where the y-axis represents average position, the x-axis represents CTR<br \/>\n  the bubble size represents total number of clicks, and the bubble color represents<br \/>\n  device category.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The red Average dashed reference lines show the average for each of the axes, which split the chart<br \/>\n  into quadrants, showing four types of query performance. Your quadrants are likely to look<br \/>\n  different than the one shared in this post; they&#8217;ll depend on how your site queries<br \/>\n  are distributed.\n<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/alienroad.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/kb-gorsel\/g-9fec0935ea82.png\" loading=\"lazy\" alt=\"Bubble chart showing four types of query performance\"><\/p>\n<p>\n  The chart shows four groups of queries, which you can analyze to help you decide where to invest<br \/>\n  your time when optimizing your Google Search performance.\n<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><b>Top position, high CTR<\/b>: There&#8217;s not much you need to do for those; you&#8217;re doing a<br \/>\n  great job already.<\/li>\n<li><b>Low position, high CTR<\/b>: Those queries seem relevant to users; the queries get a high CTR<br \/>\n    even when ranking lower<br \/>\n    than the average query on your website. If the query average position moves up, it could have a<br \/>\n    significant impact on your performance&mdash;focus on improving SEO for these queries. For example,<br \/>\n    a top query in quadrant 2 for a gardening website could be &#8220;how to build a wooden shed.&#8221;<br \/>\n    Check if you have a page about this already, and proceed in two ways:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>If you don&#8217;t have a page, consider creating one to centralize all the info you have in the<br \/>\n      website about the subject.<\/li>\n<li>If you do have a page, consider adding content to better address that user need.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><b>Low position, low CTR<\/b>: When looking at queries with low CTR (both with low and top<br \/>\n    position), it&#8217;s especially interesting to look at the bubble sizes to understand which queries<br \/>\n    have a low CTR but are still driving significant traffic. While the queries in this<br \/>\n    quadrant might seem unworthy of your effort, they can be divided into two main groups:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Related queries<\/b>: If the query in question is important to you, it&#8217;s a good start to<br \/>\n    have it appearing in Search already. Prioritize these queries over queries that are not appearing<br \/>\n    in Search results at all, as they&#8217;ll be easier to optimize.<\/li>\n<li><b>Unrelated queries<\/b>: If your site doesn&#8217;t cover content related to this query, maybe it&#8217;s a<br \/>\n    good opportunity to fine tune your content or focus on queries that will bring relevant traffic.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><b>Top position, low CTR<\/b>: Those queries might have a low CTR for various reasons. Check the<br \/>\n    largest bubbles to find signs of the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Your competitors may have <a href=\"https:\/\/alienroad.com\/google-bilgi-bankasi\/visual-elements-gallery-of-google-search\/\">structured data markup<\/a><br \/>\n        and are showing up with rich results, which might attract users to click their results instead of<br \/>\n        yours. Consider optimizing for the most common<br \/>\n        <a href=\"https:\/\/alienroad.com\/google-bilgi-bankasi\/visual-elements-gallery-of-google-search\/\">visual elements in Google Search<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>You may have optimized, or be &#8220;accidentally&#8221; ranking, for a query that users are not interested<br \/>\n        in relation to your site. This might not be an issue for you, in which case you can ignore those<br \/>\n        queries. If you prefer people not to find you through those queries (for example, they contain<br \/>\n        offensive words), try to fine-tune your content to remove mentions that could be seen as<br \/>\n        synonyms or related queries to the one bringing traffic.<\/li>\n<li>People may have already found the information they needed, for example your company&#8217;s opening<br \/>\n        hours, address, or phone number. Check the queries that were used and the URLs that contained the<br \/>\n        information. If one of your website goals is to drive people to your stores, this is working as<br \/>\n        intended; if you believe that people should visit your website for extra information, you could<br \/>\n        try to optimize your titles and description to make that clear. See next section for more details.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>\n  We haven&#8217;t mentioned the device categories because they can be used as additional signs of query<br \/>\n  performance. For example, suppose some queries are more relevant when people are navigating in the<br \/>\n  street, trying to find a location; in that case, the query might have a high performance<br \/>\n  on mobile devices, but a low performance on desktop.\n<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"improving-seo-for-specific-queries\" tabindex=\"-1\">Improving SEO for specific queries <\/h2>\n<p>\n  Once you find queries that are worth the time and effort, make sure to optimize or create pages<br \/>\n  related to those queries.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  After you find the queries using the visualization shown in this page, you can<br \/>\n  <a href=\"https:\/\/support.google.com\/webmasters\/answer\/7576553#filteringdata\" class=\"external-link\">create a query filter<\/a><br \/>\n  for specific queries using the Search Console user interface, or create a<br \/>\n  <a href=\"https:\/\/support.google.com\/looker-studio\/answer\/7516660\" class=\"external-link\">pivot table<\/a><br \/>\n  using Looker Studio; in both ways, you can check all the pages that are receiving<br \/>\n  traffic for a specific query. After you know the queries you want to optimize and their related<br \/>\n  URLs, use the <a href=\"https:\/\/alienroad.com\/google-bilgi-bankasi\/seo-starter-guide\/\">SEO starter guide<\/a><br \/>\n  to optimize your content. Here are some tips:\n<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ensure that your <a href=\"https:\/\/alienroad.com\/google-bilgi-bankasi\/title-links\/#page-titles\">title<\/a> elements,<br \/>\n  <a href=\"https:\/\/alienroad.com\/google-bilgi-bankasi\/snippets\/#meta-descriptions\">description meta tags<\/a>, and alt<br \/>\n  attributes are descriptive, specific, and accurate.<\/li>\n<li>Use heading elements to emphasize important text and help create a hierarchical structure for<br \/>\n    your content, making it easier for users and search engines to navigate through your document.<\/li>\n<li>Think about other words that a user might search for to find a piece of your content, for<br \/>\n    example, synonyms and related queries. You can<br \/>\n    use the <a href=\"https:\/\/ads.google.com\/home\/tools\/keyword-planner\/\" class=\"external-link\">Keyword Planner<\/a><br \/>\n    provided by Google Ads to help you discover new keyword variations and see the approximate search<br \/>\n    volume for each keyword.
