It is a reputation channel most site owners do not know exists, because nothing on their own site shows it.

Two separate streams

About the site. Written by Yandex users and published on their public profile pages. Shown on the On site tab.

About the organisation. Collected across Yandex services — Maps, search results, partner sites — and managed through Yandex Business. Shown on the On the organisation tab.

A business with a physical location will usually have both, and they behave differently: the organisation stream is the one customers actually read in Maps.

Ratings

Users can attach a rating when they write a review. The page shows the total count and the ratio of good to bad, with a simple threshold: 1 to 3 counts as bad, 4 and 5 as good. There is no weighted middle — a three-star review, which most businesses read as lukewarm, sits on the negative side of Yandex’s ledger.

Responding

Only the site owner can reply, and only from the main site address in the console. Yandex is explicit that this restriction exists to keep responses credible. A reply posted as a site or organisation representative appears as official on the services where the review is published, which makes it visible to everyone who reads the review later — not just to the reviewer. Reviews and responses are moderated, typically within a few days.

Reporting a review

Reviews can be reported through the same page. This is the route for content that breaks the rules rather than content that is merely unflattering; a factual complaint about the service is not removable and should be answered instead.

Keeping up with them

Yandex checks for new reviews regularly and can notify the verified owner. Without that notification enabled, reviews accumulate unseen — which is the common case, because the console is not where most teams look for reputation signals.

Why this connects to ranking

Reviews are not a direct ranking control, but they feed two things Yandex weighs: how trustworthy a resource appears, and how users behave toward it in results. The fraudulent-activity rules also state that user reports are one input into violation detection, alongside other data — so a pattern of complaints about undelivered orders is not merely a reputation problem.

Yandex collects reviews about sites and about organisations, and surfaces both inside Yandex Webmaster on the Reviews and ratings page.
