Yandex&#8217;s reference explains why and gives a fixing procedure per error.<\/p>\n<h2>Why feeds break<\/h2>\n<p>A feed must satisfy strict requirements \u2014 data format, mandatory fields, limits on string and URL length, XML encoding and syntax. Yandex names the small things that kill a file: an extra quotation mark, a wrong date format, an over-long URL.<\/p>\n<h2>The parsing errors<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Malformed attributes<\/strong> \u2014 values must be quoted, quotes must match, attributes must not overlap or nest wrongly, special characters must be escaped (<code>&amp;amp;<\/code> rather than a bare ampersand), and no element may repeat an attribute name.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Missing quotation mark<\/strong> \u2014 every opening quote needs its closing one. Yandex&#8217;s practical hint: if the file was hand-edited, look at what changed last.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Incorrectly redefined HTTP header<\/strong> \u2014 duplicated or wrongly set headers in the feed.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Improperly closed CDATA<\/strong> \u2014 each section runs from <code>&lt;![CDATA[<\/code> to <code>]]&gt;<\/code>, and a stray <code>]<\/code> inside can close it early. That is the subtle one, because the file looks correct and the parser disagrees.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Invalid character<\/strong> \u2014 a character outside the range the format permits.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>The working method Yandex prescribes<\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li>Find the error code.<\/li>\n<li>Read what it means.<\/li>\n<li>Follow the steps.<\/li>\n<li>Fix <em>all<\/em> reported errors the same way.<\/li>\n<li>Submit for re-check.<\/li>\n<li>Apply the prevention advice so it does not recur.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2>The recurring instruction worth generalising<\/h2>\n<p>Nearly every entry ends with the same two suggestions: run the file through an XML or YML validator, and <strong>if the feed is generated programmatically, check the code that generates it<\/strong>. That is the real fix.
