A site can violate them without meaning to, particularly around scaled content and link schemes, where the line between normal marketing and manipulation is a matter of degree.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The categories that matter most for legitimate sites<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Scaled content abuse<\/strong>, generating many pages that add no value, whether by AI, templating or spinning. The volume is not the problem; the absence of value is.<\/li><li><strong>Link spam<\/strong>, buying links, excessive exchanges, and large-scale guest posting done purely for links.<\/li><li><strong>Site reputation abuse<\/strong>, hosting third-party content on a strong domain to borrow its authority.<\/li><li><strong>Expired domain abuse<\/strong>, buying a domain for its history and putting unrelated content on it.<\/li><li><strong>Cloaking<\/strong>, showing Google something different from what users see.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Manual actions versus algorithmic demotion<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A manual action appears in Search Console and can be appealed after you fix the cause. Algorithmic demotion does not appear anywhere; it shows up only as traffic that leaves and does not come back. The second is more common and harder to diagnose.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"ar-kb-tavsiye\"><p><strong>Alien Road recommends:<\/strong> treat &#8220;would I be comfortable explaining this to a client, in writing, with the page open?&#8221; as your test. It catches almost everything the policies cover.
