Some of the information may be outdated (for example, some images may be missing, and some links may not work anymore).<\/aside>\n<p class=\"gargardate\">Wednesday, April 23, 2008<\/p>\n<p>\n  When we originally launched Sitemaps, we included support for the<br \/>\n  <a href=\"https:\/\/www.openarchives.org\/OAI\/openarchivesprotocol\" class=\"external-link\">Open Archives Initiative Protocol for Metadata Harvesting<\/a><br \/>\n  (OAI-PMH) 2.0 protocol, an interoperability framework based on metadata harvesting. In the<br \/>\n  meantime, however, we&#8217;ve found that the information we gain from our support of OAI-PMH is<br \/>\n  disproportional to the amount of resources required to support it. Fewer than 200 sites are using<br \/>\n  OAI-PMH for Google Sitemaps at the moment.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  In order to move forward with even better coverage of your websites, we have decided to support<br \/>\n  only the standard XML Sitemap format by May 2008. We are in the process of notifying sites using<br \/>\n  OAI-PMH to alert them of the change.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  If you have been using OAI-PMH as a Google Sitemap feed, we would love to see you adopt the<br \/>\n  industry standard<br \/>\n  <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.sitemaps.org\/\"class=\"external-link\">XML Sitemap<\/a><br \/>\n  format.
