Check out our <a href=\"https:\/\/developers.google.com\/search\/blog#core-web-vitals-and-page-speedpage-speed\">latest blog posts<\/a> on this topic instead.<\/aside>\n<p>\n  You may have heard that here at Google we&#8217;re obsessed with speed, in<br \/>\n  <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/chrome\/intl\/en\/more\/speed\" class=\"external-link\">our products<\/a><br \/>\n  and<br \/>\n  <a href=\"https:\/\/googleblog.blogspot.com\/search\/label\/faster%20web\" class=\"external-link\">on the web<\/a>.<br \/>\n  As part of that effort, today we&#8217;re including a new signal in our search ranking algorithms: site<br \/>\n  speed. Site speed reflects how quickly a website responds to web requests.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Speeding up websites is important&mdash;not just to site owners, but to all Internet users. Faster<br \/>\n  sites create happy users and we&#8217;ve seen in our<br \/>\n  <a href=\"https:\/\/googleresearch.blogspot.com\/2009\/06\/speed-matters\" class=\"external-link\">internal studies<\/a><br \/>\n  that when a site responds slowly, visitors spend less time there. But faster sites don&#8217;t just<br \/>\n  improve user experience; recent data shows that improving site speed also<br \/>\n  <a href=\"https:\/\/radar.oreilly.com\/2009\/07\/velocity-making-your-site-fast\" class=\"external-link\">reduces operating costs<\/a>.<br \/>\n  Like us, our users place a lot of value in speed&mdash;that&#8217;s why we&#8217;ve decided to take site speed<br \/>\n  into account in our search rankings. We use a variety of sources to determine the speed of a site<br \/>\n  relative to other sites.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  If you are a site owner, webmaster or a web author, here are some tools that you can use to<br \/>\n  evaluate the speed of your site:\n<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n    <a href=\"https:\/\/code.google.com\/speed\/page-speed\/\" class=\"external-link\">Page Speed<\/a>, an open<br \/>\n    source Firefox\/Firebug add-on that evaluates the performance of web pages and gives suggestions<br \/>\n    for improvement.\n  <\/li>\n<li>\n    <a href=\"https:\/\/developer.yahoo.com\/yslow\/\" class=\"external-link\">YSlow<\/a>, a tool from Yahoo!<br \/>\n    that suggests ways to improve website speed.\n  <\/li>\n<li>\n    <a href=\"https:\/\/www.webpagetest.org\/\" class=\"external-link\">WebPagetest<\/a><br \/>\n    shows a waterfall view of your pages&#8217; load performance plus an optimization checklist.\n  <\/li>\n<li>\n    In<br \/>\n    <a href=\"https:\/\/search.google.com\/search-console\" class=\"external-link\">Webmaster Tools<\/a>,<br \/>\n    Labs <span aria-label=\"and then\">&gt;<\/span> Site Performance shows the speed of your website as experienced by users around the<br \/>\n    world as in the chart below. We&#8217;ve also blogged about<br \/>\n    <a href=\"https:\/\/alienroad.com\/google-bilgi-bankasi\/your-sites-performance-in-webmaster-tools\/\">site performance<\/a>.<br \/>\n    <br \/>\n    <img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"site performance graph in webmaster tools\" src=\"https:\/\/alienroad.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/kb-gorsel\/g-8407b426e3dc.png\" loading=\"lazy\">\n  <\/li>\n<li>\n    Many other tools on<br \/>\n    <a href=\"https:\/\/code.google.com\/speed\/\" class=\"external-link\">code.google.com\/speed<\/a>.\n  <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\n  While site speed is a new signal, it doesn&#8217;t carry as much weight as the<br \/>\n  <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=muSIzHurn4U\" class=\"external-link\">relevance of a page<\/a>.<br \/>\n  Currently, fewer than 1% of search queries are affected by the site speed signal in our<br \/>\n  implementation and the signal for site speed only applies for visitors searching in English on<br \/>\n  Google.com at this point. We launched this change a few weeks back after rigorous testing.
