This is one of the largest structural differences from Google, and it is set in a form.<\/p>\n<h2>Where a region comes from<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Yandex Webmaster<\/strong> \u2014 you state it, and can correct what other sources implied.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Yandex Business<\/strong> \u2014 organisation data you published there.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Yandex Catalog<\/strong> \u2014 no longer updated; since <strong>26 March 2018<\/strong> regions inherited from it appear under Webmaster on the site region page.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>All three are moderated.<\/p>\n<h2>The reassurance that prevents a bad decision<\/h2>\n<p>Assigning a region does <strong>not<\/strong> exclude the site from results elsewhere. It can still be found by users in any region when its content is relevant. Teams frequently avoid setting a region for fear of narrowing their reach, and lose the location-dependent queries for nothing.<\/p>\n<h2>Which sites need one<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>General-interest media<\/strong> \u2014 not needed. It is not detected automatically unless the site publishes a phone number or an address, and if one is assigned wrongly you can report it.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Regional media, and any site selling goods or services<\/strong> \u2014 yes: put correct contact and region information on the site, then set the preferred region in the console.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Choosing the right one<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>One address, one region<\/strong> \u2014 choose that city. A Moscow business genuinely serving the whole country may choose &#8220;Russia&#8221;, <em>provided the site contains evidence of that coverage<\/em>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Delivery across regions<\/strong> \u2014 choose the region covering all delivery areas, and list the cities served on the site.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Offices in several regions<\/strong> \u2014 one site takes the covering region and must list every address; separate domains or subdomains take their own regions each.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Passing moderation<\/h2>\n<p>Contacts and delivery information prominently placed; the site reachable and rendering correctly; no viruses. The full address should include postal code and city dialling code, <strong>and must not exist only as an image<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2>The trap for multi-region sites<\/h2>\n<p>If your site serves different content by visitor IP, remember that the robot crawls from one region and will therefore see exactly one version \u2014 the rest is never indexed.
