\nWe’re rolling out further improvements to Search Console’s user and permission management<\/a>,
\nincorporating capabilities related to unused ownership tokens management. Tokens are the codes used for website ownership verification
\nin Search Console, Merchant Center, and other Google products. We have seen cases where these were accidentally left behind after
\nowners have moved on. In February 2023, we rolled out improvements
\nto the user and permissions management report<\/a>. The latest changes will improve the accuracy and reflect the actual state of
\nunused ownership tokens.\n<\/p>\n

\nYou will now be able to verify whether an unused ownership token has been removed from the site by following this flow:\n<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Visit the Users and permissions interface<\/a><\/li>\n
  2. Click “Unused ownership tokens”<\/li>\n
  3. Choose the tokens you’d like to remove and click “Remove” (see screenshot below)<\/li>\n
  4. Click “Verify removal” to get update for the unused ownership token<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    \nAs a reminder, a best practice for managing user permissions in Search Console: When removing a previous verified owner, be sure to
    \n     remove all verification tokens
    \n for that user<\/a>. The update rolled out today lets you verify the removal of the unused verification token so that removed owners
    \n cannot regain access to the property.\n<\/p>\n
