While most people focus on getting their pages indexed, sometimes it&#8217;s<br \/>\n  important to do the opposite: prevent content from appearing in Search. There are a few<br \/>\n  reasons you might want to hide content from Google:\n<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n    <b>To restrict data<\/b>: You might have data hosted on your site that you want to show<br \/>\n    only to users who are already on your site. You can block Google from crawling such data so<br \/>\n    it doesn&#8217;t show up in search results.<br \/>\n    Also keep in mind that certain files published on your site may have metadata that can show<br \/>\n    up in Search.<br \/>\n    <a href=\"https:\/\/alienroad.com\/google-bilgi-bankasi\/keep-redacted-information-out-of-google-search\/\">Learn more about keeping redacted information out of Search<\/a>.\n  <\/li>\n<li>\n    <b>To hide content of less value to your audience<\/b>: Your website might have low quality<br \/>\n    content that shouldn&#8217;t show up in Search. For example, if your website allows users to<br \/>\n    create content, some of that content might be<br \/>\n    <a href=\"https:\/\/alienroad.com\/google-bilgi-bankasi\/spam-policies\/#user-generated-spam\">low quality or even spam<\/a>.<br \/>\n    Allowing indexing of such content may have a negative effect on your site&#8217;s ranking in<br \/>\n    Google&#8217;s search results.\n  <\/li>\n<li>\n    <b>To have Google focus on your important content<\/b>: If you have a very large site (over<br \/>\n    hundreds of thousands of URLs) and pages with less important content, or if you have a lot<br \/>\n    of duplicate content, you might want to prevent Google from crawling the duplicate or less<br \/>\n    important pages in order to focus on your more important content.\n  <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 id=\"how-to-block-content\" tabindex=\"-1\">How to block content<\/h2>\n<p>Here are the main ways to block content from appearing in Google:<\/p>\n<table class=\"details responsive\">\n<tr>\n<th colspan=\"2\">Methods<\/th>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>\n<h3 id=\"remove-the-content-from-your-site\" tabindex=\"-1\">Remove the content from your site<\/h3>\n<\/td>\n<td>\n<p>\n        <b>Applicable: all content types<\/b>\n      <\/p>\n<p>\n        Removing content from your site is the best way to ensure that it won&#8217;t appear in<br \/>\n        Google Search and anywhere else on the Internet.\n      <\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>\n<h3 id=\"password-protect-your-files\" tabindex=\"-1\">Password-protect your files<\/h3>\n<\/td>\n<td>\n<p>\n        <b>Applicable: all content types<\/b>\n      <\/p>\n<p>\n        If you have confidential or private content on your site, you need to password protect<br \/>\n        it to ensure only authorized users can access it.
