Alien Road Analysis: Nvidia Surpasses Apple to Become the World’s Most Valuable Company

On Tuesday, Nvidia once again surpassed Apple in market value, reclaiming its position as the most valuable publicly traded company globally.

Nvidia’s stock saw an increase of over 2% on Tuesday, continuing its impressive trajectory with a 5% rise so far in 2025. This follows a remarkable 171% surge in 2024 and an astounding 239% increase in 2023, driven by relentless demand for the company’s cutting-edge artificial intelligence (AI) chips.

Conversely, Apple experienced a 3% decline in its stock value on the same day, extending its year-to-date losses to 11%, following a 30% gain in 2024. Despite launching its Apple Intelligence AI features for iPhones and MacBooks, Apple’s market positioning does not currently benefit from the same level of AI-driven momentum as Nvidia.

Nvidia dominates the global market for graphics processing units (GPUs), which have become indispensable for developing and deploying AI applications, including OpenAI’s ChatGPT. Although the company’s revenue growth has slowed, it nearly doubled in the most recent quarter, reaching $35.08 billion.

Historically, Apple achieved significant milestones, being the first company to reach $1 trillion, $2 trillion, and $3 trillion in market capitalization. Nvidia, however, previously surpassed Apple in June and again in November.

As of Tuesday’s market close, Nvidia’s market capitalization stood at approximately $3.45 trillion, compared to Apple’s $3.35 trillion. Microsoft follows closely behind with a valuation of $3.2 trillion. A major consumer of Nvidia’s GPUs, Microsoft recently announced plans to invest $80 billion in AI data centers for fiscal year 2025.

In a significant development last November, Nvidia was added to the Dow Jones Industrial Average, replacing Intel and joining industry giants Apple and Microsoft within the prestigious index.
