As of<br \/>\n  September 13, Google Search no longer shows How-to rich results on desktop, which means this result<br \/>\n  type is now deprecated.<\/p>\n<p>  This change will be visible in the metrics for the<br \/>\n  <a href=\"https:\/\/support.google.com\/webmasters\/answer\/7576553#zippy=%2Csearch-appearance\" class=\"external-link\">How-to search appearance in the performance report<\/a>,<br \/>\n  and in the number of impressions reported in the<br \/>\n  <a href=\"https:\/\/support.google.com\/webmasters\/answer\/7552505\" class=\"external-link\">How-to enhancement reports<\/a>.<br \/>\n  Since How-to results no longer appear in Google Search, we will be dropping the How-to search<br \/>\n  appearance, rich result report, and support in the Rich results test in 30 days. To allow<br \/>\n  time for adjusting your API calls, support for How-to in the Search Console API will be<br \/>\n  removed in 180 days.<br \/>\n<\/aside>\n<p>\nTo provide a cleaner and more consistent search experience, we&#8217;re changing how some rich results types are shown in Google&#8217;s search results.<br \/>\nIn particular, we&#8217;re reducing the visibility of FAQ rich results, and limiting How-To rich results to desktop devices.<br \/>\nThis change should finish rolling out globally within the next week.\n<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"overview-of-the-changes\" tabindex=\"-1\">Overview of the changes<\/h2>\n<p>\nFor site owners, these changes primarily affect the use of <a href=\"https:\/\/alienroad.com\/google-bilgi-bankasi\/latest-documentation-updates\/\">FAQ<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/alienroad.com\/google-bilgi-bankasi\/latest-documentation-updates\/\">How-To<\/a> structured data.\n<\/p>\n<p>\nGoing forward, <a href=\"https:\/\/alienroad.com\/google-bilgi-bankasi\/latest-documentation-updates\/\">FAQ<\/a> (from <code>FAQPage<\/code> structured data) rich results will only be shown for well-known, authoritative government and health websites.<br \/>\nFor all other sites, this rich result will no longer be shown regularly.<br \/>\nSites may automatically be considered for this treatment depending on their eligibility.\n<\/p>\n<p>\nWhile you can drop this structured data from your site, there&#8217;s no need to proactively remove it.<br \/>\nStructured data that&#8217;s not being used does not cause problems for Search, but also has no visible effects in Google Search.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/alienroad.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/kb-gorsel\/g-136138a58efc.png\" loading=\"lazy\" alt=\"A search result showing a full FAQ rich result, and one without\">\n<\/p>\n<p>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/alienroad.com\/google-bilgi-bankasi\/latest-documentation-updates\/\">How-To<\/a> (from <code>HowTo<\/code> structured data) rich results will only be shown for desktop users, and not for users on mobile devices.<br \/>\nNote that with mobile indexing, Google indexes the mobile version of a website as the basis for indexing: to have How-To rich results shown on desktop, the mobile version of your website must include the appropriate markup.\n<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"changes-in-search-console-reporting\" tabindex=\"-1\">Changes in Search Console reporting<\/h2>\n<p>\nFor both of these items, you may also notice this change in the Search Console reporting for your website.<br \/>\nIn particular, this will be visible in the metrics shown for FAQ and How-To <a href=\"https:\/\/support.google.com\/webmasters\/answer\/7576553#zippy=%2Csearch-appearance\" class=\"external-link\">search appearances in the performance report<\/a>, and in the number of impressions reported in the appropriate <a href=\"https:\/\/support.google.com\/webmasters\/answer\/7552505\" class=\"external-link\">enhancement reports<\/a>.<br \/>\nThis change does not affect the number of items reported in the enhancement reports.<br \/>\nThe search appearances, and the reports, will remain in Search Console for the time being.\n<\/p>\n<p>\nThis update is rolling out globally, in all languages and countries, over the course of the next week.<br \/>\nThis should not be considered a ranking change and won&#8217;t be listed in the Search status dashboard.<br \/>\nNote that there will be a small holdback experiment, so some users may not see these changes right away.\n<\/p>\n<p>\nShould you have any questions, feel free to drop by our <a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gle\/sc-forum\" class=\"external-link\">Search Central help community<\/a>, or ping us on <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/googlesearchc\" class=\"external-link\">social media<\/a>.\n<\/p>\n<p class=\"byline-author\">\nPosted by <a href=\"https:\/\/developers.google.com\/search\/blog\/authors\/john-mueller\">John Mueller<\/a>, Search Advocate, Google Switzerland<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Tuesday, August 8, 2023 Update on September 14, 2023: Continuing our efforts to simplify Google&#8217;s search results, we&#8217;re extending the How-to change to desktop as well.
