Then, upload the updated file to your site.\n<\/p>\n<aside class=\"key-point\">\n<p>\n    <b>If you use a site hosting service, such as Wix or Blogger<\/b>, you might not need to (or<br \/>\n    be able to) edit your robots.txt file directly. Instead, your provider might expose a search<br \/>\n    settings page or some other mechanism to tell search engines whether or not to crawl your<br \/>\n    page.\n  <\/p>\n<p>\n    If you want to hide or unhide one of your pages from search engines, search for instructions<br \/>\n    about modifying your page visibility in search engines on your hosting service, for example,<br \/>\n    search for &#8220;wix hide page from search engines&#8221;.\n  <\/p>\n<\/aside>\n<h2 id=\"download-your-robots.txt-file\" tabindex=\"-1\">Download your robots.txt file<\/h2>\n<p>\n  You can download your robots.txt file various ways, for example:\n<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n    Navigate to your robots.txt file, for example <code>https:\/\/example.com\/robots.txt<\/code><br \/>\n    and copy its contents into a new text file on computer. Make sure you follow the guidelines<br \/>\n    related to the<br \/>\n    <a href=\"https:\/\/alienroad.com\/google-bilgi-bankasi\/how-to-write-and-submit-a-robots-txt-file\/#format_location\">file format<\/a><br \/>\n    when creating the new local file.\n  <\/li>\n<li>\n    Download an actual copy of your robots.txt file with a tool like curl. For example:<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n    Use the<br \/>\n    <a href=\"https:\/\/support.google.com\/webmasters\/answer\/6062598\" class=\"external-link\">robots.txt report<\/a><br \/>\n    in Search Console to copy the content of your robots.txt file, which you can then paste into a<br \/>\n    file on your computer.\n  <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 id=\"edit-your-robots.txt-file\" tabindex=\"-1\">Edit your robots.txt file<\/h2>\n<p>\n  Open the robots.txt file you downloaded from your site in a text editor and make the necessary<br \/>\n  edits to the rules. Make sure you use the<br \/>\n  <a href=\"https:\/\/alienroad.com\/google-bilgi-bankasi\/how-to-write-and-submit-a-robots-txt-file\/#create_rules\">correct syntax<\/a><br \/>\n  and that you save the file with UTF-8 encoding.\n<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"upload-your-robots.txt-file\" tabindex=\"-1\">Upload your robots.txt file<\/h2>\n<p>\n  Upload your new robots.txt file to the root directory of your site as a text file named<br \/>\n  robots.txt. Check<br \/>\n  out our tips for finding help with<br \/>\n  <a href=\"https:\/\/alienroad.com\/google-bilgi-bankasi\/how-to-write-and-submit-a-robots-txt-file\/#upload\">uploading a robots.txt file to your site<\/a>.\n<\/p>\n<aside class=\"note\">\n<p>\n    <b>If you do not have permission to upload files to the root directory of your site, contact<br \/>\n      your domain manager to make changes.<\/b>\n  <\/p>\n<p>\n    For example, if your site home page resides under<br \/>\n    <code>subdomain.example.com\/site\/example\/<\/code>, you likely cannot update the robots.txt file<br \/>\n    at <code>subdomain.example.com\/robots.txt<\/code>. In this case, contact the owner of<br \/>\n    <code>example.com\/<\/code> to make any necessary changes to the robots.txt file.\n  <\/p>\n<\/aside>\n<h2 id=\"refresh-googles-robots.txt-cache\" tabindex=\"-1\">Refresh Google&#8217;s robots.txt cache<\/h2>\n<p>\n  During the automatic crawling process, Google&#8217;s crawlers notice changes you made to your<br \/>\n  robots.txt file and update the cached version every 24 hours.
