The page you invested in is not guaranteed to be the survivor.<\/p>\n<h2>Where they come from<\/h2>\n<p>Chiefly the content management system: trailing-slash variants, index-file addresses, printer-friendly versions, and every campaign parameter appended to a shared link. None of these are authored deliberately; they accumulate.<\/p>\n<h2>The remedies, matched to the cause<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Address variants (<code>www<\/code>, protocol, <code>\/index.html<\/code>) \u2014 <strong>301<\/strong>, and a move request where it is a mirror.<\/li>\n<li>Trailing slash \u2014 <strong>301<\/strong>, not canonical, which Yandex says may be ignored here.<\/li>\n<li>Campaign and tracking parameters \u2014 <strong><code>Clean-param<\/code><\/strong>, which also transfers accumulated metrics rather than discarding them.<\/li>\n<li>Genuinely similar content pages \u2014 <code>rel=\"canonical\"<\/code>, or consolidation into one better page.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>How to see the scale<\/h2>\n<p>Searchable pages \u2192 Excluded pages, filtered to the duplicate status, or the downloadable archive where they carry <code>DUPLICATE<\/code>.
