Xiyu: B2B low-quality content

Xiyu (细雨) governs B2B and supply-and-demand directory sites. It targets two things: misleading titles, and contact details smuggled into content.

Title violations — four types

  • A non-official site using “official site” in the title, misleading users into thinking it is the manufacturer.
  • Stacking near-identical keywords in the title.
  • Inserting garbled characters or special symbols that interfere with reading.
  • Inserting contact or benefit information into the title.

Body violations — three types

  • Incomplete content with disguised contact details repeatedly inserted. Baidu gives the evasion techniques by name: Latin letters, homophone characters, special symbols and full-width characters used to write a phone number — 5992⑧⑧⑧, ***13800138000***. The disguise is itself the signal.
  • Contact details watermarked across images, where the watermark is large enough to damage the browsing experience.
  • Scraped, stitched product information from which a user cannot actually learn what the product or service is.

What Baidu asks for instead

  • A title that states the page’s main content — concise, related to the page, naming the core product or service rather than stacking terms. Baidu’s own examples are ordinary and specific: “special cable price manufacturer wholesale supply — [site name]”; a company page listing the actual services offered.
  • Complete, truthful product content with no inducement or deception.
  • Contact details in a fixed area of the page — not scattered through the text, not hidden in images, not disguised.

Why this algorithm exists

B2B directories monetise by being contacted, so every incentive pushes toward repeating the phone number everywhere and claiming to be the manufacturer. Xiyu makes the ordinary version of that behaviour a violation, and the remedy is structural: one contact block, an honest title, real product information.

How we apply this

This is the algorithm most relevant to Turkish exporters and manufacturers listing on Chinese B2B platforms, and the disguised-contact clause is the one they fall foul of without knowing it — writing a phone number with full-width digits to slip past a platform filter is exactly the pattern named here. The fix is unglamorous: one contact area, a title that says what the page sells.
