Alphabet’s stock has reached a new milestone, closing at $200 per share for the first time on Friday, reflecting growing confidence among investors in the company’s advancements within artificial intelligence (AI).

On Friday, the stock rose by 1.1%, contributing to a weekly gain of over 2% and ending at $200.21. Year-to-date, Alphabet’s stock has surged nearly 6%, outpacing the Nasdaq’s 3.3% gain for 2025.

This achievement follows Alphabet’s 20-for-1 stock split in 2022, which adjusted the value from approximately $2,750 per share to $137.50.

The tech sector’s giants, including Alphabet, are set to announce earnings next week. Alphabet will release its Q4 2024 results on February 4, following reports from Microsoft, Meta, and Tesla on Wednesday and Apple on Thursday.

Alphabet’s Q3 2024 revenue grew 15% year-over-year, accelerating from 11% in the same period of the previous year, with total sales reaching $88.3 billion. The company also achieved record performance in cloud revenue during this period.

Despite intensifying competition in the AI space, particularly from OpenAI, analysts widely consider Alphabet to be a leader in AI innovation. The company has been incorporating advanced AI features across its portfolio, further solidifying its market position.

According to a recent Morgan Stanley report, Alphabet’s progress in AI is exemplified by its initiatives such as Project Astra and Project Mariner, along with the release of its large language model, Gemini 2.0, in 2024. However, analysts highlighted that scaling consumer AI products poses a significant challenge.

During a 2025 strategy meeting, Google executives acknowledged that the year ahead would bring heightened competition, regulatory challenges, and further developments in AI. Despite a rocky start to 2024, the latter half of the year saw the release of several critical AI-driven products, restoring investor confidence.

Over the past year, Alphabet shares have risen 35%. In comparison, Nvidia has led tech stocks with a staggering 132% gain, followed by Tesla at 96%. Meta and Amazon have also outperformed Alphabet, while Apple and Microsoft lagged behind. Meanwhile, the Nasdaq has posted a 29% gain over the past year.
