Query selection and market analysis is a beta keyword tool built into the console, drawing on hundreds of millions of unique queries. Demand, clicks and competitiveness are average monthly values over the past year; site and page popularity are averages over the past month; the data refreshes monthly.
Two modes
- Single query. Enter the words that describe your niche and the tool returns matching queries with their metrics.
- Queries by URL group. Enter up to 50 URLs from sites you have verified and see what they rank for — competitive analysis without an external crawler.
Syntax worth knowing
A leading ! fixes the word form, and with a multi-word phrase each word needing a fixed form takes its own mark: !buy !wet-dry !vacuum. Negative keywords work the same way. For a Russian-language niche this matters far more than it would in English — an unfixed form pulls in every case and number of the word, which for commercial queries is usually not what you want.
The four columns
- Cluster — automatic grouping of queries by meaning or user intent, labelled by the most frequent query in the cluster. This is the column that turns a keyword list into a page plan.
- Competition level — high, average, low or no data, colour-coded, measured against ranking in the top ten.
- Demand — how often the query is entered.
- Clicks — how often users click a result for it, which is not the same thing and is frequently the more useful number.
A separate Additional tab surfaces non-obvious phrasings — Yandex’s example is “vacuum for wet cleaning” alongside “wet and dry vacuum” — which is where the queries competitors have not targeted tend to be.
Niche evaluation
Popular sites and popular pages for the selected queries are listed alongside. Reading them answers whether the niche is realistically open: if the results are dominated by marketplaces and aggregators, a content page will not displace them and the budget belongs elsewhere.
Its limitation
The tool suggests opportunity, not priority. Demand with no realistic path to ranking is a distraction, and the competition column is exactly the filter for that.
Cómo lo aplicamos
For Russian-language markets we trust this over Western keyword tools, whose CIS coverage is thin and often simply wrong. The demand-versus-clicks distinction is the one we act on most: a query with high demand and few clicks usually means Yandex is answering it on the results page, and no ranking work will produce visits. We also use the URL-group mode to profile a competitor in ten minutes rather than an afternoon.
