HubSpot Breeze is the AI layer built into HubSpot’s CRM and marketing tools. It includes Breeze Copilot, an assistant across the platform, Breeze Agents for tasks such as content, prospecting and customer service, and Breeze Intelligence for data enrichment. A small business should start with Copilot for daily writing and summaries, then add one agent only after its CRM data is clean.
What is included in Breeze?
HubSpot introduced Breeze as the umbrella name for its AI features. The pieces most relevant to small businesses are these.

- Breeze Copilot: a chat assistant inside HubSpot that drafts emails, summarises records and answers questions about your CRM data.
- Breeze Agents: task-focused AI, such as a customer agent that answers support questions from your knowledge base, a content agent for blog and landing page drafts, and a prospecting agent for outreach research.
- Breeze Intelligence: enrichment of company and contact records with firmographic data, plus buyer intent signals. It is sold with credits.
- Embedded AI features: smaller helpers inside tools, such as subject line suggestions in marketing email or AI-generated social posts.
Which features you get depends on your HubSpot edition and seats, and HubSpot moves features between tiers over time. Check your account’s current entitlements in Settings before planning.
Why should small businesses start small?
A local accountancy firm, a dental clinic or a ten-person e-commerce brand does not need every agent. Each one needs setup, content to learn from and someone to watch its output. Turning on too much at once usually ends with features that nobody trusts and nobody turns off.
The other reason is data. Breeze works from what is in your CRM. If contacts are duplicated, deals are not updated and the knowledge base is empty, the AI will reflect that mess back to you, politely and confidently.

Where should you start?
Step one: clean the basics
Before using any AI feature, spend a few hours on record hygiene. Merge duplicate contacts, archive dead companies, make sure every open deal has a stage and an owner. HubSpot’s duplicate management tool, under Contacts actions, helps with the first job.
Step two: use Copilot daily
Copilot gives the fastest payback because it needs almost no setup. Useful daily prompts include summarising a contact’s history before a call, drafting a follow-up email after a meeting and asking which deals have had no activity in two weeks.
Step three: add one agent
Choose the agent that matches your biggest time drain. For a service business with repeated questions about hours, prices and booking, the customer agent is a natural first choice. For a business that wants more organic traffic, the content tools may fit better.
How do you set up the customer agent well?
The customer agent answers from sources you give it, such as knowledge base articles and website pages. Its quality depends almost entirely on those sources.
- Write short, clear knowledge base articles for your twenty most common questions.
- Include exact details: opening hours by location, booking steps, cancellation rules, delivery areas.
- Set handoff rules so complex or sensitive questions go to a person.
- Review conversation logs weekly for the first month and fix the articles behind wrong answers.
- Tell customers they are talking to an AI assistant.
Which features can wait?
Some features make more sense once a business grows.
- Intent data and heavy enrichment, which suit businesses selling to other companies with longer sales cycles.
- The prospecting agent, which assumes outbound sales activity at volume.
- Complex workflow automation driven by AI scoring, which needs enough closed deals to be reliable.
Revisit these after six months of clean data and steady usage of the basics.
How do you know it is paying off?
Pick two or three measures that match what you turned on.
- Time to respond to new enquiries, before and after.
- Share of customer chats resolved without a person, plus a sample check of answer quality.
- Hours per week spent writing follow-up emails and notes.
- Organic sessions and leads from content published with AI help, compared with earlier months.
Small numbers are fine. A clinic that saves three hours a week on enquiries has a real result.
How Alien Road applies HubSpot Breeze for smaller clients
A typical engagement starts with a HubSpot portal audit: edition and seats, data quality, existing workflows and knowledge base content. The team then proposes a short sequence, usually cleanup, Copilot training and one agent, rather than a long feature list.
For setup, the team writes or rewrites the knowledge base articles the customer agent will rely on, configures handoff rules and builds a simple dashboard for response time and resolution rate. Staff get a one-hour session on Copilot prompts for their actual daily tasks.
Measurement is a monthly check of the chosen metrics and a review of a sample of AI conversations. When the first agent is stable, the client decides with the team whether to add a second one.
A short scenario: a two-location dental clinic
Consider a clinic with two branches in Istanbul and a small front-desk team. Most incoming messages ask the same things: opening hours on Saturdays, whether a branch has parking, how to reschedule and whether a treatment is covered by private insurance. The team answers them by hand between patients, and evening messages wait until morning.
After cleaning contacts and writing twenty short knowledge base articles, the clinic switches on the customer agent for its website chat, with insurance questions routed to a person. Copilot helps the front desk summarise patient enquiries before callbacks. The clinic does not touch enrichment, intent data or prospecting, because none of them fit how it gets patients. Six months later it reviews whether a second agent is worth adding.
Where to start this week
Log in to HubSpot, open Settings and confirm which Breeze features your plan includes. Run the duplicate management tool and merge what it finds. Then use Copilot to summarise your three most important open deals before your next calls. If those summaries save you time, you have found your starting point.
