The process
- Set up permanent redirects from old to new, one-to-one.
- Declare the change through the revision tool with the rule or the mapping.
- Keep the old URLs resolving throughout.
- Monitor index volume and crawl reports through the transition.
The mistake
Changing URLs without declaring the revision. Baidu is slower than Google to work it out unaided, and the loss is correspondingly longer.
