What data can be sent?

The index of what Yandex will accept from a site beyond ordinary page content, and how each type reaches it.

The current list

• FAQ — questions and answers, for mobile results.
• Programs — applications, computer programs and games.
• Essays — student academic work.
• Films.

Plus region assignment, which is not markup at all but belongs on any list of what a site can tell Yandex about itself.

Yandex says the list will expand over time — so it is worth re-reading occasionally rather than treating as settled.

Choosing the delivery method

Yandex sets out the decision cleanly, and it is the useful part of this page:

• Small, stable data — use the console form. An office address is the example.
• Large, frequently changing data — use an XML feed. Product catalogues with prices are the example.
• Large but stable data — use semantic markup in the page code.

Volume and volatility, not preference. A hand-maintained markup block for data that changes daily will drift; a feed for three office addresses is unnecessary machinery.

The framing worth keeping

How the data is processed depends on the content category, and each category has its own help section with its own rules, required fields and eligibility conditions. There is no general “add structured data” task — there are specific programmes, each with a specific list of what it accepts.

How to use this page

As the entry point. Check whether your content type is on the list at all; if it is not, markup of that type produces nothing in Yandex however valid it is. If it is, follow that category’s own page for the fields and conditions, and pick the delivery method by how large and how volatile the data is.
