Yandex supports XML and TXT sitemaps and reads them from robots.txt or from the console.
Requirements worth remembering
- Fifty thousand URLs and fifty megabytes uncompressed per file; split beyond that with an index.
- URLs must be on the same host as the sitemap.
- Last-modified dates should be truthful; invented freshness devalues the signal.
Using it as a diagnostic
Split by content type and the console’s coverage numbers become a per-section report rather than a single opaque total.
