Traffic and product range analytics β

Traffic and product range analytics is a beta tool that compares your commercial coverage against the market rather than your rankings against your competitors’. It covers two verticals: Goods and Medicine.

What it answers

  • Which products, categories, brands or medical specialities users actually choose.
  • How your metrics compare with competitors in the same segment.
  • Search traffic by product or by doctor.
  • What you do not stock that other sites do — the question no ranking report can answer.

The tool works without adding a site if you only want a market overview; comparison against your own numbers requires the site to be selected in the console.

The three tabs

Categories for segment-level analysis (pharmacy, home appliances, children’s goods and others), Products for individual items with competition and ranking, and Brands for brand-level presence.

Metrics specific to this tool

  • Impression grade — a banded scale rather than a raw number, used to compare your visibility against other sellers without exposing their absolute figures.
  • Share of impressions — your impressions as a percentage of total traffic for that product, which is the closest thing here to a market-share number and the most useful single column for setting a target.
  • Alongside these, clicks, impressions (yours and total), the number of sellers in a segment, the share of sellers with traffic, and price bounds for each product.

The three ready-made reports

Under Popular filters, Yandex pre-builds the analyses most people would eventually construct by hand:

  • High-potential categories — categories with few sellers.
  • Popular products — what users choose from other sellers.
  • Growth points — products you do not sell that are in demand from competitors.

How to treat the output

It is in beta, coverage varies by category, and the data is weekly. Treat it as a hypothesis generator: a category showing thin competition is a lead to verify commercially, not a plan. The commercial conclusion it supports — that the ceiling on search traffic is the catalogue rather than the site — is one an SEO report cannot otherwise reach.

How we apply this

We use this to answer a question clients rarely ask us and often need answered: whether more search traffic is available at all, or whether the range is the constraint. When “growth points” shows real demand for products a client does not sell, the honest recommendation is commercial rather than technical, and saying so has earned more trust than any ranking improvement we could have promised instead.
