Generative AI in Search

Google Guidance on AI-Generated Content

Google position is that automation has always been used to produce helpful content, and how content is produced matters less than whether it is helpful, original and satisfies the standards described under E-E-A-T. What is against policy is using automation, of any kind, primarily to manipulate rankings.

Where teams get into trouble

Not by using AI, but by using it at volume without adding anything. Publishing hundreds of near-identical pages assembled from the same prompt is scaled content abuse whether a person or a model wrote them.

Disclosure

Google does not require an AI label, but recommends disclosure where readers would reasonably want to know, particularly for content where the process affects trust.

Alien Road recommends: use AI for the first draft and structure, never for the final claim. Every statistic, price, date and technical detail in our published work is verified by a person, because a confidently wrong number costs more trust than the article earns. We also keep a named editor on each piece; it is the difference between assisted writing and unattended generation.
