Google supports around thirty feature types. Most sites need a small number of them.
Nearly always worth it
- Organization, name, logo, contact details, social profiles. Feeds knowledge panels.
- BreadcrumbList, replaces the URL in results with a readable path.
- LocalBusiness, address, hours, phone, for businesses with a location.
- Article, for editorial content, with author and dates.
Worth it when applicable
- Product, price, availability, reviews. Essential for shops.
- FAQPage, note that Google now shows FAQ rich results only for well-known authoritative government and health sites.
- VideoObject, Recipe, Event, JobPosting, Course.

Use the Rich Results Test for eligibility and the Schema Markup Validator for syntax. Search Console reports enhancement errors on live pages.
Alien Road recommends: start with Organization and BreadcrumbList on every site, then add what your content actually supports. These two are quick, apply site-wide, and improve how the listing reads. Chasing exotic types before the basics are in place is effort spent on the wrong end.
